If you booked with Rainy Day Movers before, you're in the right place. Same company, same family, same crews β new name.
What changed
The name on the truck. That's the whole list.
What didn't
- The owners. Still the same family that started the company in 2020.
- The crews. The same background-checked, full-time employees. No brokers, no subcontractors, no day labor β that was never how we did it.
- The phone number. (206) 590-2288, same as always.
- The address. 12221 131st Ln NE G406, Kirkland, WA 98034.
- The licenses. WA UTC THG070086, USDOT 3666304, MC 1562374 β all unchanged.
- The pricing. One all-inclusive hourly rate covering the truck, blankets, shrink wrap, tape, furniture assembly, stairs, floor protection, wardrobe boxes, and travel time.
The license numbers are the part worth pausing on. When a moving company changes its name and starts over with fresh DOT and state numbers, that's a red flag β it's the oldest way to shake off a bad safety record or a stack of complaints. Ours carried over untouched, which means the record carried over with them. You can verify any Washington mover yourself at the WA Utilities and Transportation Commission. We'd rather you check than take our word for it.
Why we changed it
"Rainy Day Movers" was a Seattle joke, and it did its job for a few years. But it described the weather, not the work. It also quietly suggested something we've never believed β that moving day is a dreary thing you just have to get through.
"Tough Cookie" gets closer to the actual job. Moving is heavy, awkward, occasionally stressful work, and it takes a crew that's tough about it: up the stairs, around the tight corner, in the rain, without complaining. But the reason people hire movers instead of renting a truck is the other half of it β the care. Wrapping the thing your grandmother gave you like it matters, because it does.
Tough on the job, sweet on your stuff. That's the whole idea, and now it's on the truck.
If you already have a quote or a booking
It's honored exactly as written. Your estimate, your date, and your crew are unchanged. If your paperwork says Rainy Day Movers, it's still valid β there's nothing you need to redo.
If you run into an old listing
We're working through the directories, but the internet is slow to catch up. If you land on a Rainy Day Movers page somewhere, it's us β the phone number is the giveaway. If something looks wrong or out of date, email info@toughcookiemoving.com and we'll get it corrected.
The reviews came with us
More than 400 five-star reviews across Google, Yelp, and Thumbtack β same crews, and most of them written before the name changed. Read a few of them here.
